A video of a woman in a wheelchair dancing at a wedding is going viral on social media. Those sharing the video claim it shows Canadian singer Celine Dion, helped by her children, dancing at her son’s wedding.

Last year, Celine Dion was diagnosed with the rare neurological condition ‘Stiff Person Syndrome,’ which causes her muscles to tense uncontrollably.
Fact Check
NewsMeter found that the video shows Kathy Poirier from Florida, USA at her son’s wedding.
On performing a reverse image search of the video’s keyframe, we found stills from the video in an article published by The Indian Express on 24 May 2022.
According to the article, the video shows Kathy Poirier, who had lost her ability to walk after being diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). It also said that the video shows two sons helping her dance by holding her upright during the wedding of her son Zak.

We also found another video shot from a different angle showing the same visual posted on 11 April 2022 by RootsToSteams—an Orlando-based wedding planning Instagram account. It is mentioned in the caption that Zak danced with his mom Kathy during his wedding.
We also found an interview of Kathy Poirier published by Good Morning America on 27 July 2022 on YouTube. It is titled “The story behind the viral video of son dancing with a mom who has ALS at Wedding.”
In the interview, she said that she was diagnosed with ALS in 2018. Talking about the night when she danced at Zak’s wedding, she says, “Once I got on the dance floor, I knew my boys had me.”
Hence, we conclude that the video does not show Canadian singer Celine Dion dancing at her son’s wedding. The claim is misleading.
