Hyderabad: A video showing a woman causing a ruckus in a mosque during prayers is going viral on social media. Those sharing the video are claiming that the video shows a Hindu woman disrupting Eid prayers in a Mosque in Virginia, USA.

NewsMeter found that the claim is false. The woman in the video belongs to the Muslim community.
On performing a reverse image search of the video’s keyframe, we found the same video published by a YouTube channel. The title states that the incident took place at the Adams Center Sterling in Virginia, USA.
Taking this as a cue, we ran a keyword search and came across a post by the verified account of All Dulles Area Muslim Society (ADAMS). In the post, the society issued a statement clarifying that the woman seen in the video is from the Muslim community and has been struggling with mental health issues.
It said the incident took place during Eid prayer at the ADAMS Sterling Mosque on 21 April in Virginia, USA. The woman’s family have asked for forgiveness. They have also requested those who have posted the video on social media to remove it to protect the family’s privacy.
In the comment section of the post, a user claimed that the woman was a Hindu. The account clarified that she is a member of the Muslim community and is struggling with mental health issues. The society is working to provide support to the family, it said.
We also found the same clarification issued by the society on Instagram.
From this, we conclude that the viral video does not show a Hindu woman disrupting the Eid prayer. Hence, the claim is false.
