Hyderabad: Social media users are sharing a video with the claim that it shows Shah Rukh Khan fans beating Bajrang Dal members who were protesting the screening of ‘Pathaan’ in a theatre.


Fact Check

NewsMeter found that the video is from a cinema hall in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh and shows people fighting over cold drinks. The incident took place during the screening of ‘Pathaan’, on the first day of its release.

On performing a reverse image search of the video’s keyframe, we found a report by Aaj Tak from 27 January. It carried a still from the video and said the video shows a fight at Madho Cineplex in Amroha during the screening of ‘Pathaan’. It also categorically mentioned that the incident happened between two groups of the same community over cold drinks.

We also found the viral video in a report published by The Times of India on 27 January 2023. It also said a clash broke out between two groups during the screening of SRK’s ‘Pathaan’ over cold drinks at a cinema hall in Amroha.

On 27 January 2023, the Amroha police took to Twitter to clarify the reason behind the fight. It said the fight between two groups took place at the canteen of Madho Cineplex over cold drinks. It also said two accused were arrested.

It is evident that the video shows a fight between two groups at a cinema hall over cold drinks during the screening of ‘Pathaan’. Hence, we conclude that the claim that the video shows SRK’s fans beating members of Bajrang Dal is misleading.
