This video of a man assaulting a doctor is from Russia, not Spain

Hyderabad: A video showing a man assaulting a doctor has gone viral on social media with the claim that the video is from Spain. It is also being claimed that a husband attacked a doctor for asking his wife to remove her hijab.

Several Facebook and Twitter users shared the video with the same claim.

NewsMeter verified that the video is from Russia, not Spain.

We performed a reverse image search of the video’s keyframe and found it in a report by the Russian media outlet RT from 28 September 2021. It said the incident took place on 21 September in Nizhnevartovsk, Russia.

A man, Bakhriddin Azimova, assaulted a doctor who inspected his wife and complimented her. The report quoted the woman as saying that the dermatologist had dubbed her skin “beautiful.”

Daily Star and Online Nigeria also reported the incident in 2021 and said a husband assaulted a dermatologist for calling his wife’s skin “beautiful” in Russia.

Hence, we conclude that the video is from Russia, and the claim that the video is from Spain is false.
