Hyderabad: A video showing a massive number of fireworks-looking objects falling from the sky is being shared on social media with the claim that the video shows the Israeli Air Force dropping phosphorus bombs in Gaza.

An X premium user shared the video with the caption, “LATEST: Shocking! Israel’s air force drops white Phosphorus bombs on Gaza. (sic)”

The video is being shared on Facebook with the same claim.

Fact Check

NewsMeter found that the video shows Russia’s attack on Ukraine, not Gaza.

Upon a reverse image search of the video’s keyframe, we found the extended version of the video on YouTube, published by The Telegraph on March 13, 2023, titled ‘Russian shells rain down on Vuhledar as fight for Donbas rages on.’

As per the description, the video shows burning metals raining from the sky. The voice of someone speaking Ukrainian can be heard in the background.

We also found the video in a report by The Sun published on March 12, 2023, titled ‘Horror moment flesh-melting thermite rain bombs blitz Ukraine town as Russia loses 1,000 men in deadliest day of the war.’

Several other news outlets, using the screen grabs of the video, also reported about the thermite bombing by Russia on Ukraine. Click here and here to view the news reports.

Hence, we conclude that the video does not show the Israeli bombing of Gaza. The claim is false.
