HYDERABAD: Social media users are sharing Time Magazine cover showing Adolf Hitler's face partly juxtaposed over Prime Minister Narendra Modi's picture.

Netizens are comparing the rule of the Modi government to Hitler's regime in Germany. The text on the magazine cover reads, "The return of history. How Modi shattered India's Dreams."
FACT CHECK:

NewsMeter searched through TIME magazine's archive 'The Vault' but found no such cover for 2020, 2021, or 2022. We also noticed that the viral image does not match the template or formatting of any of Time's original magazine covers.

Welsh designer Patrick Mulder, in February this year, shared a similar piece of mock artwork which shows Adolf Hitler's face superimposed on Russia's President Vladimir Putin's face. Mulder created spoof covers of TIME magazine to help the protesters opposing the Russian invasion of Ukraine. He posted a detailed video on Twitter showing the process of making such featured cover images using the Time Media logo. (Read more here)

The viral magazine cover too is just a mock artwork created by someone. Although Newsmeter could not independently verify the artist behind the viral cover, it is clear that it is not an original cover by Time Media.

Thus, the cover is a fake.
