Video of Bengaluru airport passed off as new 'bamboo airport' of Arunachal Pradesh

Hyderabad: A video of a beautiful wooden interior has gone viral on social media with the claim that it shows the newly-constructed airport in Arunachal Pradesh. Social media users also claim that the airport is mostly made of bamboo.

A Facebook user shared the clip and wrote, "No!! This is not any European Airport!! ARUNACHAL PRADESH HAS ADDED THIS AIRPORT TO NATIONAL ASSETS...mostly made from *Bamboo*. Will be dedicated to Nation by our PM Modi shortly. This is New BHARAT.... #AmazingBharat"

Fact Check

NewsMeter performed a reverse image search of the video's keyframes and found similar images tweeted by ANI on 9 November. The tweet said PM Modi will inaugurate Terminal 2 of Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru on 11 November.

We also found that the same images were tweeted by the Prime Minister's official Twitter handle on 9 November. He mentioned that the images are of Terminal 2 of Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru. He also said that he is glad that the "terminal building accords topmost importance to sustainability."

For further confirmation, we compared one of the images posted by Mr. Modi with a keyframe of the viral video and found many similar elements.

Finally, we also came across a Facebook post by PM Modi from 11 November stating that he inaugurated Terminal 2 of Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru. The PM also posted several images which show similar visuals as seen in the viral video.

It is evident that the viral video is of Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru. Hence, the claim is false.
