Fact Check

NewsMeter found that the video is from Myanmar.

On performing a reverse image search of the video’s keyframe, we found it posted on a Telegram channel called Z Fighter on June 2. The video carried the logo of Mandalay Free Press (MFP) — a media organisation reporting news from Mandalay and the Sagaing region of Myanmar.

Taking this cue, we looked for the video on the verified YouTube channel of the MFP and found it published on June 2. According to the description, the video showed a drone bomb attack by a collation of revolutionary forces on a military group, who were entering a village in the Sagaing region of Myanmar.

MFP also published the video on its Facebook page on June 2, titled, “Bomb attack on the military group that is running around the village and terrorizing the people in the area.” It also mentioned that there was fierce fighting for 30 minutes and two people were killed by the drone attack.

Hence, we conclude that the viral video is from Myanmar and does not show drone bombing by the Kuki community in Manipur.
