HYDERABAD: A video of a group of people holding BJP flags is viral on social media. Users claim people from Balochistan are supporting PM Modi. Netizens claim Balochis are hoping Modi will help them in gaining independence from Pakistan.

A text embedded in the video reads, "This is not India. This is Pakistan (Balochistan)". The captions suggest that Modi's victory is being celebrated across the border.

FACT CHECK:

NewsMeter could not find any news reports on this incident. No media organization has reported that people from Balochistan are supporting BJP.

Upon performing a reverse image search, we found the same visuals being shared in 2019.

Former Social Media Head for BJP Maharashtra, Ashish Merkhed shared the same video and suggested that the video was taken at a campaign rally in Jammu and Kashmir.

The official Twitter account of the Jammu and Kashmir BJP stated that the video was taken when Sofi Yusuf was contesting for the Anantnag parliamentary constituency in Kashmir. He was accompanied by supporters including women when he filed his nomination papers.

Sofi Yusuf shared similar visuals and also stated that the video was taken while he was going to file nomination papers in 2019.

The viral video is from 2019 and shows a nomination rally of the BJP Candidate in Kashmir. It is not related to Balochistan.
