HYDERABAD: A video of a group of men confronting a young man and a schoolgirl is viral on Facebook.
Netizens claim that this video shows a real incident where a young girl from one religion was lured by a man from another religion, linking it to love jihad.
The viral video shows a group of men holding a man by his collar and arguing with him, while also confronting a girl dressed in a school uniform. Later, a woman who calls herself the school principal apologizes to the men and calls them inside the school to discuss the issue.
The viral video is being shared with a caption that upon translation reads, 'Watch how these Muslim men lure juvenile Hindu girls in the name of love jihad'.

NewsMeter performed a reverse image search and found a Facebook video that carried the same visuals. At the timestamp of 5.36 minutes, a disclaimer reads, "This video is fictional work and meant for awareness purpose. And all characters are fictitious. Any harm caused to any person through this video is purely coincidental (sic)".
The video is captioned: "Watch where this girl goes in the guise of going to school. Parents, please be careful".

The video was posted by Deepika Shah who calls herself a public figure. Shah's page has several such scripted videos. The official viral video has over 12 million views.
NewsMeter also contacted Deepika Shah who confirmed that the viral video is scripted and not real.
Clearly, a scripted video is being shared as a real incident and falsely linked to love jihad.
