Hyderabad: A video showing people vandalising a BJP campaign vehicle is viral on social media. Those sharing it claim that the video is from Odisha.
Taking a dig at the BJPās election slogan of āabki bar 400 parā, an X user shared the video (Archive) and sarcastically wrote, āPatriots of India pushing BJP towards 400 in Odisha.ā
Several Facebook users have also shared the video claiming the same. Click here, here, and here to view the posts.
Fact Check
NewsMeter found that the video was from Telangana in 2022.
Upon a reverse image search of the videoās keyframe, we found the same video (Archive) on X, shared by a user on November 1, 2022, with the caption stating that the video shows āpeopleās outrageā against the BJP in Telangana.
The X handle of BJP Telangana shared another video (Archive) on November 1, 2022, showing the same visual of people vandalising BJPās campaign vehicle. They alleged vandalism by the workers of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), now Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).
With these leads, we ran a keyword search. We came across a video report showing the same visuals by Times Now (Archive) published on November 2, 2022, titled āTRS Men Attacked BJP Workers As Battle For Telangana's Munugode Turned Violent Ahead OF Bypolls.ā
According to the channel, a clash had broken out between TRS and BJP workers during the last leg of the by-poll campaign in Telanganaās Munugode.
We found the viral clip in a video live-streamed by V6 News Telugu (Archive) on November 1, 2022, titled āAttack On Etela Rajender Convoy in Munugodu.ā The viral clip appears in this video after the 25:22-minute timestamp.
Hence, we conclude that the viral video of people vandalising BJPās campaign vehicle is from Telangana in November 2022. The claim is misleading.
