A video showing a massive religious procession is going viral on social media. Users claim this is the Ram Navami celebration in Pakistan.
Fact Check
NewsMeter found that the video is from Jammu and Kashmir's Srinagar and shows Ram Navami celebrations on March 30.
We noticed the video carrying Urdu text and the logo of VOA Urdu (Voice of America). Using Google Lens, we translated the Urdu text of one of the keyframes which said “Kashmiri Pandit in Srinagar.”
Next, we found the same video tweeted by VOA Urdu on 30 March. It said in the caption that the Kashmiri Pandit had taken 'Shobha Yatra' through various places in Srinagar amid high security. It also said that the Kashmiri Pandit takes out this procession yearly on their religious festival.
Taking these cues, we ran a keyword search and found a similar video published by ANI on 30 March. The video is titled “Ram Navami: Kashmiri Pandits carry out Grand Shobha Yatra in Srinagar.”
As described in the description, Kashmiri Pandit on the occasion of Ram Navami had taken out a grand procession which saw the participation of people in large numbers. The procession started at Tankipora and passed various cities before it reached Lal Chowk.
Greater Kashmir also published a video report of the procession on 30 March. The video is titled “Kashmir pandits take out procession in Srinagar on Ram Navami.”
Hence, we conclude that the video does not show the Ram Navami celebration in Pakistan. The claim is false.
