Fact Check

NewsMeter found that the video dates back to 2021 and shows a protest held by the Shiv Sena in Maharashtra.

On performing a reverse image search of the videoā€™s keyframe, we found a similar image carried in an article published by Marathi Daily on 5 February 2021. It said Shiv Sena, under the leadership of MLA Santosh Bangar, took out a bullock cart march against the BJP-led Central government to demand a reduction in the prices of petrol, diesel, and gas.

It also mentioned that thousands of Shiv Sainiks participated in the march, carrying flags and placards and raising slogans.

We also came across an extended version of the video uploaded on YouTube on 5 February 2021. Slogans against inflating fuel prices can be heard in the video.

Mumbai Mirror, on 5 February 2021, also reported that Shiv Sena workers protested against the rising fuel prices.

According to India Today, automobile fuels recorded the highest price across India in February 2021.

It is evident that the video dates back to 2021 and does not show a protest against PM Modi in Karnataka. Hence, we conclude that the claim is misleading.
