Hyderabad: A video showing an aerial shot of a massive number of people at a city square is doing rounds on social media, with users claiming it shows a pro-Palestine march in Spain.
An X user shared the video and wrote, āHuman flood in Spain for Palestine.ā
Multiple X users shared the video claiming the same.
Fact Check
NewsMeter found that the video shows a demonstration against the government in Spain, not a pro-Palestine march.
While skimming through the posts, we found a user commenting on one of the viral posts that the video shows Spanish people protesting against their socialist government.
Taking this cue, we ran a keyword search and came across the same video on Instagram, posted by the Spanish media outlet El Mundo on November 13, 2023.
The Spanish caption stated that protests have erupted in Spain against prime minister Pedro Sanchez for agreeing to grant amnesty to Catalan and Basque nationalists in exchange for their votes.
Another media outlet, Insider Paper, posted the video on the same date.
