Hyderabad: A visually striking video shows vibrant explosions lighting up the sky over the silhouette of Mount Fuji, accompanied by orchestral music. It is being widely shared on social media with claims that it captures a fireworks display in Japan.

An X user shared the clip with the caption, “Japan never fails to amaze with its fireworks” (Archive).

The video shows fireworks exploding over the silhouette of Mount Fuji with orchestral music playing in the background.

Fact Check

NewsMeter found that the viral video does not show real fireworks in Japan. It is a computer-generated simulation that has been circulating online since 2014.

By performing a keyword search, we found that the same video was uploaded to YouTube on November 5, 2014, by a user showcasing fireworks simulation software called FWsim.The video description clearly states: “This is simulation FWsim.”

According to FWsim’s website, the software allows users to create and simulate realistic firework displays and design custom pyrotechnic effects.

The viral video does not show real fireworks in Japan. It is an old, digitally-created simulation made using FWsimsoftware and has been circulating online since 2014.

Hence, the claim is false.
