NewsMeter found that the viral video does not show real fireworks in Japan. It is a computer-generated simulation that has been circulating online since 2014.
By performing a keyword search, we found that the same video was uploaded to YouTube on November 5, 2014, by a user showcasing fireworks simulation software called FWsim.The video description clearly states: “This is simulation FWsim.”
According to FWsim’s website, the software allows users to create and simulate realistic firework displays and design custom pyrotechnic effects.
The viral video does not show real fireworks in Japan. It is an old, digitally-created simulation made using FWsimsoftware and has been circulating online since 2014.
Hence, the claim is false.
