HYDERABAD: A video of a 5-year-old boy being beaten up mercilessly by a teacher for not being able to answer a question is viral on Whatsapp. Users claim the incident took place in Telangana.
FACT CHECK:
NewsMeter performed an InVid search and found several media organizations reporting on the video. However, the location of the incident is mentioned as Bihar and not Telangana.
Based on reports by The Hindu, Times Now News, and Mirror Now, the teacher at a private coaching center in the Dhanarua block of Patna district mercilessly beat the five-year-old student for not being able to answer a question.
A report by NDTV states that the incident took place at a tuition center called Jaya Coaching Classes in Dhanarua block. The student was later admitted to the hospital for medical attention. Following this incident, the teacher is said to be reportedly thrashed by the victim's family members.
Evidently, the incident did not take place in Telangana. The claim is false.
