Viral images of human-pig hybrid are fake

Hyderabad: An article along with photos of a strange-looking infant is doing the rounds on social media. The viral images show the infant placed alongside a giant pig. The strange baby is being called “pig human hybrid baby.”

While it is unlikely that a pig-human hybrid baby could be real, the hyper-real details of the infant has created a lot of curiosity among social media users.

Fact Check

NewsMeter found that the images are fake as the infant seen in the picture is an artwork and not a real human-pig hybrid.

On performing a reverse image search of the viral image, we found the same images on the Instagram account of Laira Maganuco.

Taking the name as a cue, we performed a keyword search. We found that Laira Maganuco is an artist from Milan who makes hyper-real silicon sculptures.

On carefully analysing her Instagram page, we found that she is famous for her creepy and strange hyper-real silicon sculptures.

The about section of her website states that her works are wonderful creatures in their diversity, frightening and fascinating at the same time, which transports us from the surface to our deepest selves.

Moreover, we also found the same set of images on her Facebook page. The caption read, “My original post was hidden by facebook due to some reports. While the original post Will be restored i Will repost here. Baby hibrid pig piece unique mixed silicones (sic).”

You can also find her creations on Etsy.

From this, it is evident that the pig-human hybrid baby is not real. Hence, the claim is false.
