FACT CHECK:
NewsMeter performed a reverse image search and found several news reports that carried the same image linked to the comments made by Nupur Sharma and Naveen Jindal against Prophet Muhammad. However, the picture is not from India.
According to ABC News, On June 9, thousands of Islamists rallied in Pakistan's capital, Islamabad, and urged Muslim countries to cut diplomatic ties with New Delhi over the derogatory remarks derogatory made to the Prophet. Sirajul Haq, the leader of the Jamaat-e-Islami party, denounced India at the rally and asked Islamic countries to boycott Indian products and recall their envoys.
News reports by The Independent and Associated Press also state that supporters of the religious group burnt a representation of the Indian flag during the rally as a protest against the derogatory references to Islam and the Prophet Muhammad.
