Fact Check
NewsMeter found the claim to be false as the viral video is fake.
We ran a keyword search but did not find any media reports about the incident. However, we notice a watermark on the video that read āGeoMFilms.ā A search using GeoMFilms as a keyword took us to a YouTube channel with the same name.
On analysing the YouTube channel, we found that it uploads dubbed videos. We found a similar video of Elon Musk firing all his employees over a call.
On the right side of the video screen, we can notice the words āAI Zoomā, which suggests it is an AI-generated video. We also found a video of Elon Musk firing Joe Biden.
Finally, we spotted the viral video on the same channel. The description read, āElon Musk DUB fires employees in twitter zoom meeting. Elon Musk fires all employees on Twitter meetings over random questions about long work hours, tesla, free speech, Amber Heard and more. Random employee freaks out. This is a FAKE/DUB/HUMOR/EDIT (sic).ā
From this, it is evident that a parody YouTube channel that uploads AI-generated content with voice cloning is behind the viral video. Hence, the video of Elon Musk firing employees over Zoom is fake.
