Hyderabad: A disturbing video showing a group of men assaulting a person is in circulation on social media. One of the men in the video is assaulting the person with a wooden plank while others are kicking and slapping.
An X user shared the video claiming that the video shows the personal assistant of a ruling partyās MLA in Andhra Pradesh assaulting a man for questioning the State government.

NewsMeter found that the incident took place in Jubilee Hills in Hyderabad, Telangana, not Andhra Pradesh.
We found the video posted by another X user, who claimed that the video shows Bhaskar, the personal assistant of Jubilee Hills MLA Maganti Gopinath, attacking the man. He also mentioned that the victim is currently undergoing treatment in a hospital. Jubilee Hills lies in the western part of Hyderabad, Telangana.
Further, we reached out to Station House Officer (SHO) P Ravindra Prasad of Jubilee Hills police station, who confirmed that the incident took place in Jubilee Hills.
He said, āOn the intervening night of October 7-8 at around 2 a.m., five persons, including Bhaskar and Lalit, entered into an argument with Chandu, which led to a fight on the street. Chandu was assaulted by the others which was captured on video.ā He added, āA sou moto case has been registered under Section 307 of IPC. The two were arrested, and we are searching for the other three accused.ā
When asked if Bhaskar works as a PA to current Jubilee Hills MLA Maganti Gopinath. Prasad said, āBhaskar is an ordinary party worker of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), not a PA to the current MLA.ā
The fact-check X handle of the Andhra Pradesh government has also called out the user for spreading fake news and said that the video is from Telangana, not AP.

Hence, it is evident that the viral video is from Telangana, not Andhra Pradesh. The claim is false.
