Hyderabad: A video of former Zee News journalist Sudhir Chaudhary reporting Prime Minister Narendra Modi's arrest by the Mumbai Crime Branch for making an inappropriate video has gone viral on social media.

The video is being shared since 25 February 2022.

In the video, journalist Sudhir Chaudhary reports, "Mumbai Crime Branch has arrested PM Modi for allegedly making an inappropriate video."

The video has garnered 1.1 million views and has been shared several times.

Let's debunk the viral claim.

FACT CHECK

NewsMeter performed a keyword search to find any reports about Mr. Modi's arrest but did not find any. This proves that the video is fake as anything related to the Prime Minister of India would definitely be covered by all media outlets.

Further, we tried to find the origins of the video and discovered an Instagram account, 'sonu_shitposting', mentioned in the corner of the viral video. We scanned the Instagram page and found the video that was uploaded on 13 October 2021.

While going through the Instagram page, we came to know that it is a meme fan page operated by an anonymous fan of actor Sonu Sood who has been posting doctored videos and memes of politicians, actors, and famous personalities.

It is evident that the video is edited and the post is fake. PM Modi has not been arrested for making an inappropriate video.
