According to reports, heavy rainfall in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on Sunday triggered landslides, damaging houses and leaving at least nine people dead.
Fact Check
NewsMeter found that the video is from Jammu Kashmir in 2019.
On performing a reverse image search of the videoās keyframe, we found an extended version of it published by The Tribuneās YouTube channel on July 28, 2019, captioned, āJammu-Srinagar highway closed due to shooting stones in Ramban.ā
A report by The Tribune, which carried the same video, said, āThe Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was closed for traffic due to shooting stones at various places between Ramban and Banihal stretch of the highway, falling in Ramban district of the state.ā
It also added, āAll types of vehicular movement on the highway was stopped, including the Amarnath yatra, after heavy rain lashed the region, due to which the Panthal area witnessed shooting stones. Other places, including Battery Chashma, Digdol and Marog, witnessed landslides.ā
A video report by ABP News from July 28, 2021, shows the same visuals depicting a landslide in Ramban, Jammu.
Hence, we conclude that the viral video shows a landslide in Ramban, Jammu and Kashmir, not Manali, Himachal Pradesh. The claim is false.
