Fact Check: Viral video of TMC MP Mahua Moitra being forcibly removed is not related to her expulsion
The video is not related to Mahua Moitra’s expulsion and is from October 3.

Hyderabad: Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra was expelled from the Lok Saba on Friday on the cash-for-question allegations after the Ethics Committee led by BJP MP Vinod Kumar tabled the report recommending the expulsion. The Ethics Committee, which investigated the allegations made by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, recommended Moitra’s expulsion, from the 17th Lok Sabha given her ‘highly objectionable, unethical, heinous and criminal conduct.’
Amidst this, several social media users are sharing a video of Moitra claiming that it shows her being forcibly taken away by persons in uniform while protesting her expulsion from the Parliament. “Loudspeaker.. Mahua Moitra expelled from the Lok Sabha in ‘cash for query’ matter. #mahuamoitrascandal, (sic)” wrote an X user, while sharing the video.

NewsMeter found that the video is not related to Mahua Moitra’s expulsion and is from October 3.
We ran a relevant keyword search and found the video published by the Times of India on its YouTube channel on October 4, titled ‘Mahua Moitra DRAGGED, forcefully removed from Krishi Bhawan by Police.’
In the description, the newspaper reported that TMC leaders were forcibly removed from Krishi Bhawan and detained after MoS Rural Development, Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti allegedly refused to meet the delegation after they were made to wait for three hours. The TMC delegation then sat on dharna, saying they won’t leave without meeting the minister.
India Today also reported the incident on October 3. It said Moitra was dragged by the Delhi police while she staged a protest with other TMC leaders. It also mentioned that the incident occurred inside the Krishi Bhawan in the national capital over the release of MNREGA funds.
Mahua Moitra also posted the video through her X account on October 3.
“This is how elected MPs of the world’s largest democracy are treated after being given an appointment to meet with a Minister of the Govt of India (which she refused to honour after making us wait 3 hours),” read the post’s caption.
Hence, we conclude that the video is old and does not show Mahua Moitra being dragged out of the Parliament after her expulsion.
