Fact Check: Viral video of YSRCP MLA Pushpa Sreevani speaking about tribals’ plight shared as recent

Hyderabad: A video of Andhra Pradesh’s Kurupam MLA Pamula Pushpa Sreevani who is a member of Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP), is going viral on social media. Those sharing the video are suggesting it shows her complaining about her own government headed by AP chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

“In Vizianagaram district, tribals are not receiving medical services, bike ambulances are not working @VidadalaRajini many girls and pregnant women are facing many difficulties and risking their lives due @PushpaSreevani lack of timely medical services,” wrote an X user who shared the video.

NewsMeter found that the video is from 2018 and shows Sreevani criticizing the TDP government.

In the comments for the viral post, we found a user saying that the video is five years old and shows Sreevani complaining about the TDP government in 2018.

Taking this cue, we ran a relevant keyword search and found the viral video published by the verified YouTube channel 2Day 2Morrow on September 5, 2018, titled ‘kurupam mla pushpa sri vani Emotional Speech About Girijana Peoples.’

We also came across a report by the RTV news network stating that Sreevani has clarified that the video is from 2018. It also mentioned that she has said that the video is proof of the Telugu Desam Party’s depravity.

We also found the clarification video published on RTV’s YouTube channel on December 16, 2023, titled ‘Pamula Pushpa Sreevani Angry On TDP.’

We also found the clarification published on the verified Facebook account of Sreevani.

Hence, we conclude that the viral video is not recent and does not show Sreevani criticising YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s government. The claim is false.
