Will we soon have disposable paper phones?

Hyderabad: A video of a shop executive demonstrating the functioning of a disposable paper phone to two customers is doing the rounds on social media.

Those sharing the video claim that due to the advancement in technology, the world will soon get disposable paper phones.

Facebook users shared the video and wrote, “Disposable paper phones coming soon....as the world gets more technologically advanced!”

NewsMeter found that the viral video is from a TV series “The Carbonaro Effect.”

At the end of the video, we noticed the text “The Carbonaro Effect” and the logo of truTV. Taking a cue from this, we searched for the video and found an extended version published by truTV on YouTube on 17 June 2016. The video is titled “The Carbonaro Effect - Disposable Paper Phone.”

According to the description, the video shows Michael performing tricks about the advancement in mobile phone technology. Michael Carbonaro, who is a magician and prankster, performs baffling tricks on unsuspecting people in everyday situations.

According to IMDb, Michael Carbonaro is an experienced magician. He performs illusions and magic tricks on unsuspecting people in everyday situations.

Michael Carbonaro’s website states he is the executive producer and has presented over 100 episodes of the hit series “The Carbonaro Effect” on truTV.

It is evident that the viral video demonstrating the functioning of disposable paper phones is from a TV series. Hence, we conclude that the claim is false.
