Fact Check
NewsMeter performed a reverse image search of the photo and found it posted by the author and columnist, Wajahat Ali, on 1 July 2022. However, the text on the placard did not call for the boycott of PM Modi at the G20 summit.
The unedited placard reads, "Democrats and Independents must unite to vote out Republicans. Vote blue this November."
Ali posted the photo of the woman holding the placard and wrote, "This lady has been holding this sign at the middle of the intersection, stone cold, not a word uttered. I still think the country is underestimating the anger of women and Gen Z. They won't take this sitting down. They won't go back.

It is evident from Ali's post that the placard in the viral photo is morphed. Hence, we conclude that the viral photo is misleading.
NewsMter has also reached out to Wajahat Ali to find more details about the location where the photo was taken and the context behind the woman holding the placard. The article will be updated as and when he responds.
