Hyderabad: As Muslims celebrated Eid on March 31, an image has been circulating on social media depicting Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath seated on a cot, enjoying a meal alongside BJP leaders Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and Hema Malini. The accompanying claim suggests that CM Adityanath visited Naqvi’s residence to extend Eid greetings and partake in sevaiyaan (vermicelli dessert).
Facebook users shared the image with the caption, “Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath broke the myth of being anti-Muslim by visiting former Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi’s house to extend Eid greetings. He also enjoyed the sevaiyaan (vermicelli dessert) prepared by Ashok Singhal’s daughter Seema Naqvi.” (Translated from Hindi)

NewsMeter found that the claim is false. The image is from 2021 and does not show Yogi Adityanath enjoying the Eid feast at Naqavi’s home.
Upon conducting a reverse image search, we found the image in an Indian Express report published on November 11, 2021. According to the report, the image shows Yogi Adityanath, then Union Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, and MP Hema Malini at the ‘Hunar Haat’ event in Vrindavan, in the Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh.

We also found several images, including the viral one, shared on the official Facebook page of Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on November 10, 2021. The post mentioned that Yogi Adityanath praised the artisans and craftsmen at Hunar Haat for contributing to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat. He highlighted India’s rich and centuries-old heritage of handicrafts and stressed the need to preserve and promote traditional art forms. The post also noted that Adityanath enjoyed traditional cuisine while seated on a ‘khatiya’ in the “Mera Gaon Mera Desh” section.
According to an ANI report dated November 11, 2021, Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the 31st edition of ‘Hunar Haat’ in Vrindavan, described as the “Kumbh of Kaushal Kuber” and part of the “Braj Raj Utsav” in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. The event aimed to provide a platform for the country’s talented craftsmen, artisans, and culinary experts.
Therefore, we conclude that the image does not show Adityanath enjoying the Eid feast at Naqvi’s house. The claim is false.
