Fake wedding invite of Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor goes viral

Mumbai: A fake wedding Invitation announcing the wedding dates of Bollywood actors Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor has gone viral. The invite claims the duo are set to get married on January 22, 2020.

The card reads: “Mrs Neetu and Mr Rishi Kapoor cordially invite you for the ‘Sagan’ ceremony of their son Ranbir with Aliya (D/0 Mrs Soni and Mr Mukesh Bhatt) on Wednesday, 22th January 2020, 5.00 pm onwards. Venue: Umaid Bhawan Palace, Jodhpur.”

If we look closely at the card, we see that it is full of typos and incorrect information.

Firstly, the card misspells Alia as ‘Aliya’ and mentions her as the daughter of ‘Ms Soni Razdan and Mr Mukesh Bhatt’, which is a blunder. Alia is the daughter of Soni Razdan and Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt is her uncle. The date reads ‘22th January’ instead of 22nd January.

The invite claims Ranbir’s parents Rishi and Neetu Kapoor are hosting the ‘Sagan ceremony.’ ‘Sagan’ is a traditional ceremony held before the marriage where relatives from both the groom and bride’s family get to know each other and exchange sweets.

The viral photo shows a ‘Sagan’ ceremony card on kept in a golden invitation box with the wedding invitation visible in the background.

This is not the first time that rumours about Ranbir and Alia’s marriage are doing the rounds. Earlier this year, similar rumours also had gone viral. Alia’s mother, Ms Soni Razdan, had denied them, adding that she did not want to discuss her daughter’s personal life openly.
