Father and daughter killed in LPG cylinder blast in Vizag, Son suffers injuries
By Newsmeter Network Published on 11 Oct 2019 6:19 AM GMTVisakhapatnam: A 62-year-old man and his 32-year-old daughter died while his son suffered critical injuries after an LPG cylinder exploded in their home at Sagarnagar in Vizag city during the early hours of Friday morning.
The police said that the deceased has been identified as Challa Umamaheswara Rao (62) and his daughter Lavanya (32). The injured Sateesh Chandra is battling for life at KG Hospital in Vizag city.
The locals said that the incident took place around 3 am on Friday. They also added that the blast attracted the attention of the neighbours, who found that two persons died on the spot while a man was lying unconscious.
However, the local are expressing doubt over the accident as the three were standing close to the cylinder in the hall of the house. The locals are suspecting that it might have been a suicide pact.
Arvind, a resident of Sagarnagar said that Umamaheswara Rao and his family were staying in a High Income Group (HIG) house for the past year. Sateesh suffered over 60 per cent burns and was admitted for treatment.
The police said that they have shifted the bodies to KG Hospital for the autopsy. The forensics and clues team rushed to the spot to collect evidence and to ascertain the reason behind the explosion of the gas cylinder.
We are investigating the case in various perspectives to determine the causes of the explosion. We have been on the job to establish whether it is a fire mishap or suicide, said a senior police officer who didnāt wish to be named.
Under the impact of the blast, two were completely burnt and their bodies were left in a bad shape. The blast damaged furniture, electronics goods and few other items in the home. The fire service personnel and the technical team of the Gas Company rushed to the spot to find the reason for the mishap. EOM
