Vizianagaram: A 50-year-old farmer killed his son over the death of a rooster in Boddidi village under GL Puram mandal in Vizianagaram district on 23 February.

The GL Puram police said Addakula Kanta Rao took his rooster to the nearby pond for a bath around 3 p.m but the rooster drowned in the water. His 22-year-old son Majjiswara Rao came to the pond and was shocked to see the rooster dead. He got angry and questioned his father.

Kanta Rao became furious, took a knife, and stabbed his son in the chest, killing him instantly. Kanta Rao’s wife Nirmallamma, upon hearing her son’s cry for help, rushed to the spot and took him to the nearby community health centre where the doctors declared him brought dead.
The villagers informed the police, who rushed to the pond and took Kanta Rao into custody. They have registered a case and started an investigation.
