Father, uncle arrested for sexual abuse of twins

Hyderabad: A shocking case of sexual assault on a 16-year-old girl and her polio-affected twin sister by their father and maternal uncle came to light in Warangal district of Telangana. While their uncle had been sexually assaulting them for about three years, the father started a month ago. Police arrested both men on Saturday.

According to police, one girl is preparing for her SSC examination while the polio-affected girl is studying class VII in the government high school at Intezar Gunj in Warangal.

On Friday, when the SSC student was in school, one of her teachers noticed that she seemed worried. When asked, the girl gave irrelevant responses. On further counselling, the girl broke down and confided about the sexual assault on her and her sister.

The teacher took it to the notice of the authorities and a complaint was lodged against the two men at Intezargunj police station under charges of rape, intimidation and POCSO Act.

On inquiry, it was found that their uncle first trapped the SSC student and had been sexually assaulting her by threatening to kill her and her parents. Later, he also trapped her sister. But both the girls kept quiet for fear of being harmed. Three months ago, their father also started sexually assaulting them. It was also found that both of them worked as daily labourers. The mother of the girls was working on daily wages and they took advantage of her absence.

The girls have been admitted to a hospital for treatment.
