Father's death by suicide prompts daughters to end life in Kadapa

Kadapa: Unable to digest the news of their father dying by suicide, two sisters also died by suicide.Their bodies were found near the railway tracks in between Tippaluru and Rayanipeta under Yerraguntla mandal, Kadapa district on Saturday.The deceased were identified as Swetha Reddy and her younger sister, Sai Reddy.

On Friday, their father, Babu Reddy, died by suicide in Yerraguipadu of Kamalapuram mandal in Kadapa district following harassment by Swetha’s husband, R. Suresh Kumar Reddy. Babu Reddy recorded a selfie video explaining the reasons before taking the extreme step.

In the selfie video, Babu Reddy said that his son-in-law, Suresh Reddy, was responsible for his extreme step.

The police said a year ago, Babu Reddy performed the marriage of his elder daughter, Swetha, with Suresh. However, Suresh began harassing Swetha for trivial reasons. In the same way, he also harassed Babu Reddy.

Depressed over the future of his daughter, Swetha, due to harassment by her husband, Babu Reddy took the extreme step on Friday.Learning that her father ended his life and feeling guilty that her family was the reason for it, Swetha Reddy took the extreme step the next day, on Saturday.

Shocked by the tragic deaths on two consecutive days, Sai Reddy, an engineering student, also ended her life. Blaming Suresh for the suicides by the trio, relatives of the deceased lodged a complaint with the police. A case has been registered against Suresh Reddy and a manhunt was launched to nab him
