Fear of losing tenancy, son moves ailing mother to graveyard

Hyderabad: A man was forced to shift his ailing mother to a graveyard even before her death out of fear of losing tenancy if she died in the house. The incident took place in Jagtial town in Telangana.

Incidents like this are not rare as a majority of homeowners think that keeping a dead body in the house is inauspicious for the family.

Dharmaiah’s mother Narsamma has been sick for a long time and the family had lost hope that she would recover.

Dharmaiah says, “If my mother dies in the house, my owner will not allow my family to stay. So, I had no option but to move my mother to the graveyard. I am under much stress.”

When the people in the vicinity came to know about the incident, they immediately rushed Narsamma to a hospital. The latest news is that she is recovering.
