Fighting the infodemic: NewsMeter now part of Corona Virus Facts Alliance

Hyderabad: The NewsMeter team is proud to announce that we are now part of the Corona Virus Facts Alliance led by the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) at the Poynter Institute. The Alliance was launched in January when the spread of the virus was restricted to China but was already causing rampant misinformation globally. The World Health Organisation has now classified the misinformation surrounding the pandemic as an infodemic.

The Alliance is on the frontlines in the fight against this infodemic.

The #CoronaVirusFacts Alliance is the largest collaborative project ever launched in the fact-checking world. For this reason, it has faced obvious barriers like language and time differences and new challenges. The toughest of them is that we don't know when the crisis will end.

The Alliance unites more than 100 fact-checkers from around the world in publishing, sharing, and translating facts surrounding the new coronavirus. We are proud to announce that NewsMeter is one of them.

We have been persistent in the pursuit of accuracy in our fact-checks relating to the COVID-19 pandemic. For this reason, our articles have been included in the stringently-built database. For more fact-checks from around the world visit:

NewsMeter is happy to be a part of the #CoronaVirusFacts Alliance which is a global attempt to curb the spread of misinformation relating to the coronavirus.
