Fire in parked train creates panic at Moula Ali railway station

Hyderabad: A major fire broke out in a train at Moula Ali railway station Saturday morning, triggering panic. Three fire tenders from Nacharam and Tarnaka were rushed to the spot and the fire was brought under control and before it could spread to other compartments. It was found that the compartments were abandoned as scrap.

Though there was not much of passenger traffic in the station at the time of the incident, it triggered panic as the station is located in the main railway line connecting Secunderabad. Train services were partially hit and for a brief while, officials said.

According to officials, railway staff at the station noticed the fire in one of the compartments in the yard beside the platform and alerted authorities and also fire service personnel.

Two fire tenders were immediately pressed into service, while a third one was also rushed as a back-up. It is suspected that an electrical short-circuit led to the fire. Railway authorities have launched a probe into the incident.
