Forensic examination reveals accused Sai Goud raped Warangal girl

Hyderabad: The forensic examination report of the Warangal-rape victim revealed clinching evidence that indicate accused Sai Goud has raped the victim. The semen collected from the victim matched with that of the accused, said officials investigating the case.

The State forensic lab is to submit the report to Warangal police probing the case in the coming week, a charge-sheet to follow.

Besides the forensic report, medical examination revealed that the Warangal girl, Prasana (name changed), who was raped and murdered on her birthday, sustained grave internal head injuries. Police suspect the accused, Sai Goud, hit her head while committing the crime before she took her last breath.

Prasana, on November 27, turned 19 and headed to a temple in Deendayal Nagar in Hanamkonda to celebrate her birthday, said the girl’s family. The girl met Sai Goud in the temple vicinity and did not return home even after late hours. Countless calls made to Prasanna’s mobile remain unanswered, and later her phone was switched off.

As the family searched for Prasanna, Malothu Vijender, a passerby, noticed a body near DPEA Bhavan, Sriram colony in Hunter Road. He dialled 100 and informed the cops. The police and parents identified the body as Prasanna’s, but what surprised them was that the girl was wearing a different dress.

CCTV footage captured the movement of Sai Goud’s vehicle, in which the victim was present, and helped the cops to get a breakthrough. The incident occurred on the same day when Cyberabad police found Disha’s charred body under Shadnagar Culvert.

Prasanna’s death has sent shock waves in the town that had already witnessed the brutal rape of a newborn child in June 2019.

Following the encounter of the four accused in Disha’s gang rape, Prasanna’s family demanded a similar punishment for the accused. Police booked Sai Goud, a student, under Section 376 (rape), 302 (murder), and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence) of the Indian Penal code

Warangal Police rule out gang rape.

While speaking to NewsMeter, a sub-inspector of Subedan police station said, “Call details of the girl showed contact details of the accused, and they have been in touch for a few months." The investigation, so far, shows the involvement of Sai Goud only. On the other hand, the family is claiming that there could be more involved in the crime as one person cannot change the victim’s attire.
