Former Cognizant staffer inhales nitrogen to commit suicide
By Newsmeter Network Published on 7 Jan 2020 6:47 AM GMTHyderabad: A former employee of Cognizant killed himself by inhaling nitrogen at his house in Hyderabad on Sunday, the police said. Rangineedi Moulidhar, 29, had left the IT major about five months ago and was jobless since then.
The police said a hosepipe from a cylinder was connected to his mouth and his face was wrapped tightly with a piece of black polythene. A note recovered from the scene at Narsingi said Moulidhar was vexed with his life and that nobody was responsible for his death. Moulidhar had last spoken to his sister, who stays in a hostel at Madhapur, on January 2.
A native of Narsapur in West West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, Moulidhar had moved to the city a few years ago. Until five months ago, he was working for Cognizant at Madhapur and lived in a rented flat at Golconda. His sister Rangineedi Sravani also works in Hyderabad and stays in a hostel.
Moulidhar apparently had not been successful in getting another job. To cut down expenses, he recently moved to a penthouse at Puppalaguda village of Narsingi and had also planned to bring his sister there. Since his own shifting had not been over completely, his sister continued to stay at her hostel.
The police said the siblings spoke to each other on WhatsApp around 11.30 pm last Thursday. They discussed the arrangements at the penthouse and other issues for about 15 minutes. When Sravani called her brother the next day, he did not answer. She called again the same night, but there was no response.
Sravani and a cousin visited the penthouse on Sunday only find Moulidhar lying on the bed in the hall with a pipe attached to his mouth from a cylinder. The police said he died of nitrogen inhalation. A case was registered and the body was handed over to Sravani. It was then shifted to their native for final rites.
