From Train Singer To Singing Sensation

Thanks to the power of social media, she became a sensation overnight as she rendered the song ‘Ek Pyaar Ka Nagma Hai,’ at the Ranaghat railway station in Nadia district in West Bengal. The woman in the video was identified as Ranu Mondal, and she sings in all the local passenger trains at the station for her survival.

A passenger had recorded a video of her singing Lata Mangeshkar’s classic song ‘Ek Pyaar Ka Nagma Hai’ at the station and uploaded the video on Facebook. The video went viral within no time and a Facebook page by the name –‘Barpeta Town – The Place of Peace’ initiated on July 28. The video has received more than 4.2 million views, with over 64 thousand likes and over 60,000 people sharing the video on Facebook. News channels also played the video which garnered a lot of attention.

The story of Ranu is not the first, many others also have received due recognition for their talent due to social media. With the sudden fame and compliments, a local parlor at Ranaghat has given Ranu a complete makeover. With all the good things coming her way, let’s hope we see her on TV soon.
