Game On: Gopichand to play kabaddi coach in new film

Hyderabad: The first look of action star Gopichand’s upcoming sports drama ‘Seetimaarr’, directed by Sampath Nandi, was unveiled today. This is the actor’s second movie with Nandi. He had earlier starred in Nandi’s ‘Gautham Nanda’ which was well-received by critics but had failed at the box-office.

According to media reports, Gopichand plays the role of the head coach of the Andhra Pradesh female kabaddi team. The film is reportedly one of the highest budget films of the actor’s career. Srinivasa Chitturi, who produced the super hit movie 'U Turn' is producing ‘Seetimaarr’ under the Srinivasa Silver Screen banner. The film is presented by Pavan Kumar. The action star has been through a rough patch lately and is keen to make a comeback. Gopichand, who was last seen in ‘Chanakya’, failed to impress the audience and is looking to revive his career with this highly-anticipated sports drama. The film will also see the actor share screen space with actor Tamannaah Bhatia for the first time.

Tamannaah who was part of only two Telugu films in 2019, ‘F2’ and ‘Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy’, is gearing up for a fresh start in 2020. She was also recently in a special song in ‘Sarileru Nekevaru’. According to reports, she will be seen in the role of a Telangana Kabaddi team coach in the upcoming sports drama film. Interest towards Kabbadi has risen tremendously in the recent past and it now competes against cricket to be India’s most popular sport, which will definitely benefit the filmmakers.
