Gandhi hospital’s outsourcing employees leader detained for allegedly molesting COVID patients
By Newsmeter Network Published on 3 Oct 2020 3:34 AM GMTHyderabad: Police have detained an outsourcing employees leader for allegedly molesting several COVID 19 patients at Gandhi Hospital, Hyderabad.
The accused, who claims to be a leader of the Outsourcing Employees' Union, has access to almost every ward at Gandhi hospital. Taking advantage, he had been moving around freely in all the wards, especially where women are admitted. Under the pretext of assisting women patients, he would touch them inappropriately, the patients alleged.
After the incidents were reported, hospital authorities lodged a complaint with Chilkalguda police station.
Police immediately swung into action and registered a case under section 354 A of the IPC. Later the employee was detained.
Dr M Rajarao, Superintendent, Gandhi hospital said the employee had been removed from service on Thursday. "The misbehavior of a class IV employee came to my notice yesterday afternoon through Health Inspector. Immediately I removed him and complained to the police," he said.
Two days ago, the accused harassed one of the patients in the washroom. However, he fled after she raised alarm. Since his exploits have been on the rise, the patients took up the issue with hospital authorities.
Meanwhile, in another incident, a COVID 19 patient from Nampally, undergoing treatment at the Government Chest Hospital at Erragadda was sexually harassed by an employee. However, no action has been initiated against the accused.
