Genpact techie commits suicide in Gachibowli

Hyderabad: A Genpact techie committed suicide in Gachibowli, Hyderabad, on 18 February. The victim, 33-year-old P.N.V.S Sunny Babu, allegedly hanged himself. Police said that he had sent an email to his brother-in-law Sampath Kumar before taking the extreme step.

According to the police, Sunny Babu, a resident of Srikakulam district, moved to Hyderabad after graduating from an engineering college. He was working with Genpact as a software engineer for the past few years and lived in a rented flat at Sudarshan Nagar in Gachibowli.

On Tuesday afternoon, around 1 p.m, he sent an email to his brother-in-law saying he had decided to end his life. In the email, he also apologized to his family members and parents. His brother-in-law, Sampath Kumar, who works as a techie in another MNC, saw the email around 2.15 p.m. He left the office and rushed to Sunny Babu’s flat and found the door locked from inside. He broke open the door and found Sunny Babu hanging from the ceiling. He brought his body down and rushed him to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him dead.

Mr Kumar told police that Sunny Babu had no affairs, financial issues, or job-related troubles. Police suspect he took the extreme step due to depression since he was not married. A suspicious death case has been registered. His body was handed over to the family after postmortem, said Gachibowli police. They have seized his laptop and mobile phone for further investigation.
