GHMC imposes Rs 10,000 penalty against Pista House Bakery and Restaurant

Hyderabad: The authorities of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 on Pista House Bakery and Restaurant at the Swiggy Kitchen in Saroor Nagar. On October 29, Dr Mahesh Reddy, a resident of Kothapet, ordered a murgh malai kabab for dinner through the online food delivery app Swiggy.

Disappointed with the unclean and bad quality food he received, Mahesh Reddy reported the issue through the GHMC app. Based on the complaint, Dr Mallikarjun Rao Kavuri, Assistant Medical Officer of Health (AMOH), conducted inspections at the restaurant in the mentioned location. The AMOH found that there was no physical restaurant at the specified location. However, Swiggy was running multiple kitchens at the Saroor Nagar address alongside different restaurants, where only the food aggregator has access to them.

Speaking to NewsMeter, Mahesh Reddy said, “I ordered dinner on October 29, which I found to be bad in quality and unhygienic as well. I decided to complain about it with GHMC authorities, and they assigned the task to AMOH Dr Mallikarjun. He conducted inspections and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on the restaurant.”

Dr Mallikarjun told NewsMeter that they conducted inspections at the restaurant address, where they found Swiggy running multiple kitchens with different restaurants in Saroor Nagar. “The customer had ordered food from Pista House Bakery and Restaurant and complained about the food being unhygienic. We inspected the location and found out that they are not displaying their trade licenses. We imposed a penalty of Rs 10,000 on the restaurant and instructed them to display their trade license as early as possible.”
