Government official in ACB trap for demanding bribe from another official
By Newsmeter Network Published on 10 March 2020 9:59 PM ISTHyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), on 10 March, arrested a pay and accounts superintendent for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs. 5,000 from another government employee. The accused officer, P. Gopinath, demanded a bribe from Konugganti Krishna, the deputy inspector of survey and records, to process pending salary bills of Rs. 1.78 lakh.
Two days ago Gopinathās colleague Thota Rama Rao was caught red-handed by the ACB in the same case. Even after sanctioning the pending salary bills Rao and Gopinath tried to take undue advantage by collecting Rs. 5,000 as reward from the complainant. Gopinath had gone into hiding after Rama Rao was arrested. The ACB had been searching for Gopinath.
