Government spreading rumours that capital region is flood prone: Naidu

Hyderabad: Telugu Desam (TD) president Chandrababu Naidu wrote a letter to Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy accusing the government of inaction to control the recent floods that inundated a number of villages in Krishna and Guntur districts. This is the first letter by the TD supreme to his counterpart, after the former lost power in the Assembly elections.

In the letter, Mr Naidu alleged that due to the failure of the YSRC- led government, thousands of people become homeless. He accused that the water level in the Prakasam barrage was not managed properly and that the 2.5 lakh cusecs of water were released at the 11th hour, resulting in hundreds of villages being submerged in both the districtsā€™. Mr Naidu added that the government was only interested in sending drones over his home rather than concentrating on rescue works.

Mr Naidu also opined that the ruling party was spreading rumours that the capital region is a flood-prone area and it has done everything intentionally to tamper his image.
