New page: Greet Telangana school officials with dictionaries, not bouquets
By Newsmeter Network Published on 1 Jan 2020 6:42 AM GMTHyderabad: Whoever would like to wish the officials from the School Education Department in Telangana in the New Year can extend the greetings through a dictionary instead of a bouquet or any other item.
The state government has brought out an order asking the heads of departments, regional joint directors of school education and district education officers (DEOs) to give wide publicity to the new idea of replacing bouquets with dictionaries in 2020.
The order goes on to say that officials should collect the dictionaries which will be given to students for their academic purpose. The task of collection and distribution of dictionaries has been given to a corporate social responsibility (CSR) consultant from Hyderabad and the DEOs.
When Sabitha Indra Reddy was recently sworn in as the education minister, she had requested her wellwishers to bring notebooks and other materials like pens and pencils for children instead of bouquets and sweets. It appears the school education department got its cue from the minister's suggestion and took it forward.
