Gully Boy out of 2020 Oscar Race

Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy starring Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt and Siddhant Chaturvedi, became India’s entry at the 92nd Academy Awards.
The Film Federation of India announced the film as India’s official entry in September. Audiences and critics around the world highly praised the film. Hopes went up when the film grabbed the Best Film award in the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne and the Best Feature Film award in Asian Academy Creative Awards.
Released in February this year, the film also features Vijay Raaz, Kalki Koechlin, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Vijay Varma and Amruta Subhash. The film was also a commercial success in the country grossing almost 139 crores and 235 crores worldwide.
The final shortlists have been announced for 92nd Academy Awards in nine categories. It includes Documentary Feature, Documentary Short Subject, International Feature Film, Makeup and Hairstyling, Music (Original Score), Music (Original Song), Animated Short Film, Live Action Short Film and Visual Effects.
The films shortlisted in the International Feature Film category for Oscars 2020 are as follows:
