Haritha Haram: 300 people forced into home quarantine as TRS leader tests positive

Hyderabad: As many as 300 people, including 50 entrepreneurs having their industrial units at Cherlapally Industrial Development Area (IDA) on the city outskirts, have gone into home quarantine. After comes after a TRS leader tested COVID positive.

The people under quarantine includes officials of Medchal and Malkajgiri districts from the Industrial Area Local Authorities (IALA) and a few district officials too. Most of them have participated in the state government's prestigious Haritha Haram plantation drive last week.

The programme was attended by a senior TRS party leader from the district, who was also a member of the IALA, during his last tenure. He developed symptoms after taking part in the programme and later tested positive for Covid-19, sources said.

Following the results, the information was communicated to all the people who took part in the programme. At least, 30 entrepreneurs who were in close contact with him during the programme and others who came into contact with him later, party workers have been asked to go into home quarantine. Meanwhile, the TRS leader has been admitted to an isolation facility and is undergoing treatment.

It is to recall, that Telangana Home Minister Mahmood Ali was tested COVID positive days before he attended the Haritha Haram program. The occasion was attended by top police officers including Hyderabad Police Commissioner. The Home Minister reportedly contracted the infection from five of his staffers.
