Hyderabad: Days, after Telangana Home minister Mahmood Ali participates in the Haritha Haram ( tree plantation) program, the minister has been tested positive for COVID-19, on June 29. According to sources, he has been admitted to a private hospital in Hyderabad.

It may be recalled that on June 24, eight home guards of the home minister had tested positive for COVID-19. Initially, four security personnel posted at the home minister’s residence in the old city of Hyderabad were tested positive, and the number had gone upto eight later. All of them have been put under isolation.

The Minister had also attended a Harithaharam programme on June 26 held at Goshamahal police station. Pertinent to mention that top officers of the Hyderabad police including City Commissioner Anjani Kumari were part of the plantation program.

Though the exact source of the infection could not be found, health officials suspect that one of the visitors at home minister’s residence might have been infected by the virus.
