Hindi row: DMK cadres blackens railway station board
By Newsmeter Network Published on 18 Sep 2019 6:15 PM GMTChennai : Protesting Union Minister Amit Shah’s pitch for Hindi, over 24 DMK volunteers were arrested today for blackening Hindi words on the Gudiyatham railway station's name board.
Reports say that the protests were led by DMK’s Gudiyatham IT wing co-ordinator Gnanaprakash. The volunteers, including Gnanaprakash, were arrested by the police based on a complaint. The protestors had raised slogans condemning Amit Shah, stating that Hindi should not be imposed anywhere. They also said that all hell would break loose if the Centre tried to impose Hindi.
A few days ago, Amit Shah had made a pitch for Hindi as a common language, and it was met with criticisms from opposition parties including DMK.
