Further reported that during the inquiry, there were several recorded statements of several residents, wherein it was deposed that they had made several complaints regarding the uncovered manhole in their area to the concerned HMWSSB officials. But neither the HMWSSB officials nor the contractor in-charge of the manhole assignment had not responded in time.
Therefore, the director HMWSSB has requested to initiate necessary action by blacklisting the contractor, i.e. M/s Keerthy Enterprises for not completing the work on time and keeping it open without proper barricading.
A 14-month-old child named Deexith fell into a manhole while playing with his brother around 5:30 pm. His father, who is engaged as a daily labourer had gone for work, and his mother had gone to the washroom when the incident happened.
